VOLUNTEER
INFORMATION

Our Volunteer Team is vital and integral to the success of RushSouth Music Fest. They are ambassadors for the event and the city of Columbus. Available opportunities and related duties are listed below.

Front of House

 

Front of House volunteers are often the first point of contact for attendees. Volunteers scan wristbands for entry and check bags. They may also help attendees with general venue directions and answer questions. There are several possible assignments for Front of House volunteers – Zone Captain, Wristband Scanner and Bag Checker. 

Primary Duties

Zone Captain

  • Supervise volunteers for a particular area of the venue (Main Gate, 11th Street)

  • Assist attendees with special needs and accommodations

  • Assist other volunteers as needed

  • Answer general/specific questions and assist with wristband issues

  • Share responsibility of monitoring entry/exit and checking wristbands as attendees re-enter

  • Stay alert to safety concerns and notify Front of House Manager, Security Manager or other festival management of any issues or problems

  • Other duties as assigned by the Front of House Manager

 

Wristband Scanner
  • Ensure all attendees are wearing wristbands correctly and assist them in scanning wristbands for event entry 

  • Answer general questions (e.g., location of restrooms, food)

  • Direct attendees with wristband issues (e.g., unable to locate wristband, wristband not functioning) to the Zone Captain or Box Office for assistance

  • Check wristbands for readmission if an attendee exits

 

Bag Checker

  • Look through attendees’ bags and personal items to ensure they are free of weapons or any prohibited items

  • Direct attendees with bag issues/prohibited items to the Zone Captain or the uniformed security for assistance

  • Check bags for readmission if an attendee exits

Hospitality 

 

Hospitality Team volunteers provide food, beverages, and any specialty items for VIP attendees. They help maintain a private, pleasant area for attendees to relax and refuel during the event.

 

Hospitality Volunteers are individually selected due to close interactions with VIP, which require the utmost professionalism and highest standards at all times. Hospitality shifts generally last several hours and sometimes all day long.

 

Primary Duties

Zone Captain

  • Supervise volunteers for a particular area of the venue (VIP, VIP+)

  • Assist VIP attendees with special needs and accommodations

  • Assist other volunteers as needed

  • Answer general/specific questions and assist with wristband  issues

  • Stay alert to safety concerns and notify VIP Manager, Hospitality Manager, Security Manager or other festival management of any issues or problems

  • Other duties as assigned by the VIP Manager or Hospitality Manager

 

Wristband Scanner

  • Ensure all VIP attendees are wearing wristbands correctly and assist them in scanning wristbands for event entry 

  • Answer general questions (e.g., location of restrooms, food)

  • Direct attendees with wristband issues (e.g., unable to locate wristband, wristband not functioning) to the Zone Captain or Box Office for assistance

  • Check wristbands for readmission if an attendee exits

 

Hospitality Floater

  • Create a welcoming space for VIP attendees

  • Answer general questions (e.g., location of restrooms, food)

  • Ensure Hospitality area remains free of trash

  • Assist VIP attendees with special needs and accommodations

Box Office

 

Box Office volunteers assist attendees with wristband and registration issues. They may also help attendees look through lost items or with general venue directions and answer questions. 

Primary Duties

Box Office Volunteer

  • Assist attendees with wristband pickup and troubleshooting

  • Assist attendees with finding lost items, giving directions and answering questions

  • Stay alert to safety concerns and notify Box Office Manager or other festival management of any issues or problems.

Security

 

Security volunteers are vital to ensuring the event runs smoothly. These volunteers share the responsibility of monitoring entry, exit and perimeter areas to prevent theft, violence or infractions of rules. They may also help attendees with general venue directions and answer questions. There are several possible assignments for Security volunteers – Zone Captain, Barrier Control, Stage Control and Crowd Floaters.

 

Primary Duties

 

Zone Captain

  • Supervise volunteers for a particular area of the venue (North End, Center or South End)

  • Assist other volunteers as needed

  • Assist attendees with special needs and accommodations

  • Share responsibility of monitoring entry/exit and checking wristbands or tickets when attendees re-enter

  • Stay alert to safety concerns and notify Front of House Manager, Security Manager or other festival management of any issues or problems.

  • Other duties as assigned by Head of Security 

 

Barrier Control

  • Monitor entry, exit and perimeter areas

  • Patrol on foot and/or motorized vehicle assigned area to prevent theft, violence or infractions of rules

  • Ensure emergency lanes are kept clear

  • Direct attendees to entrance areas for event entry

 

Stage Control

  • Ensure crowd stays a safe distance from front and side of stage

  • Prevent and resolve altercations among guests

  • Maintain control by circulating through your work area throughout the shift

  • Ensure emergency lanes are kept clear

 

Crowd Floater

  • Prevent and resolve altercations among guests

  • Maintain control by circulating through your work area throughout the shift

  • Assist guests with finding lost items, giving directions and answering questions
